Ingredients
1 lb. ground lamb or beef (not too lean)
2 onions chopped fine
1/4 cup rice
1 small can tomatoes
Chopped parsley and mint
Cabbage leaves
Salt and pepper, to taste
Garlic if desired


Soften the cabbage leaves in boiling water and cut off the hard parts.. Wash rice and mix with the meat. Add the parsley, mint, salt and pepper and blend together. Place a small amount of this mixture on the grape leaf and roll.
Cover bottom of pan with some leaves, then arrange the stuffed rolls side by side, then cover with a plate, fill with meat broth or water up to the plate, add some lemon juice to the water. Put on the lid and cook or bake for 1 hour. Serve with madzoon.
