Elvina Makarian Died Suddenly

Elvina MakarianFamous jazz singer Elvina Makarian died suddenly some hours ago in the USA.

“What a miracle!” exclaimed the great Aram Khachaturyan after listening to her perform. “How could I not have heard of her until now?” continued maestro while enthusiastically applauding. The young rising star, Elvina Makarian, was only 16 years old.

46-year-old Armenian immigrant Karen Abramian who was earlier attacked by skinheads in the Russian capita, died in the hospital. According to law enforcement bodies, on Monday evening three young men, dressed like skinheads, attacked Abramian. Mayor of Armenia’s second largest city attacked, 3 killed, 6 injured

Vardan GhukasyanMayor of Gyumri, Armenia’s second largest city, Vardan Ghukasyan was attacked yesterday in Armenia. As a REGNUM correspondent report citing data received in the hospital, where the mayor is undergoing treatment now, three persons who were accompanying Ghukasyan were killed in the attack, six others received severe injuries. Editor of Turkey’s Armenian Paper Is Killed

ISTANBUL, Jan. 19 The editor of Turkey’s only Armenian-language newspaper was assassinated today on an Istanbul street.

The editor, Hrant Dink, 53, was convicted last year of insulting the Turkish state and identity because of comments he made about the mass deaths of ethnic Armenians before World War I in what is now Turkey events that Armenians and many foreign historians say was genocide by the Ottoman army, but the Turkish government denies took place.
