Colors and Fashion: When to Wear Red

Red is a powerful and exciting color. We are introduced to the color red at a very early age in life; in fact, red is one of the primary colors we learn about in Kindergarten. The color red can make a statement without doing anything. Are you ready to make a red hot fashion statement? If so, all you have to do is just wear the color red. If you are not sure when to wear this powerful color of red, here are some helpful tips:

Wear red everyday if you want to. The color red can make a powerful statement that you are in charge type of person. Red is a bright color that compliments most all skin tones. You can find numerous items in all sorts of fabrics from a red cotton flannel nightgown to a smooth and beautiful cashmere sweater. Perhaps you wish to be the “lady in red” in a gorgeous evening gown for a night out on the town. Wearing red everyday makes the bold statement that you are in charge and you are full of excitement.

Certain holidays are notorious for the color red. If you are not someone who is comfortable wearing red everyday, the holiday seasons are great to try on the color and just have fun wearing red. Retailers even make sure that men wear red during holiday seasons by offering novelty red ties. Red is certainly a fashionable color for Valentine’s Day. Valentine candy is beautifully boxed in heart shaped containers dressed in red. Lovers send each other beautiful red roses usually by the dozens. So, go ahead and adorn yourself in red for the Valentine holiday of love.

What color do you think about when you think about Christmas? Red, of course. We all know Santa is always in fashion and we know that he always wears red! What other color could jolly Old St. Nick wear? Why, he just wouldn’t be Santa if he wasn’t decked out in his red Santa suit! If a big and jolly fat guy can wear the color red … anybody can. Just look at all the shelves at the store stacked high with Christmas sweaters and you will certainly see an abundance of red sweaters. The racks at the stores are full of beautiful holiday party gowns. You will certainly find a red gown in the evening wear section at Christmastime. Red is certainly a color that stands out in the display window of department stores. The mannequins are adorned in Christmas outfits and the overall color theme is usually Christmas red.

If you’re not brave enough to step out decked in red you may want to consider wearing red underneath your clothing. Many retailers offer beautiful underclothing in red. You may also compliment your attire by using “splashes” of the color red. Wear a beautiful red scarf around your neck or use it as a belt for adorning a black skirt. Place a beautiful red hair comb in your hair. You can even use jewelry to add a splash of the color red to create your own fashion statement. Red rubies certainly add sparkle and are very elegant and tasteful whether you’re wearing jeans and a red sweater or a beautiful red evening gown.

Not sure about wearing red? Did you know that you don’t even have to actually wear red to have it as part of your outfit? You can choose to compliment your outfit with the color red by simply carrying a red handbag or wearing red shoes or boots. Red socks are just plain fun. During the holiday season you can find tons of red Christmas socks. Get a pair for yourself. Red sweaters, tops, and boots certainly have a special place during the Christmas holidays. And, of course, what color would Santa wear besides red? We know Santa is always in fashion!

So, when do you wear red? It’s a simple solution. You can wear the color red whenever you want. Wear it everyday or on a holiday. Wear it on Mondays to get yourself pumped up and ready for the work week ahead. Wear it on Wednesdays to help get over the hump in the middle of the week. Wear it on Friday to celebrate the end of the work week. Wear it on the weekend just for fun. Wear it on holidays or wear it every day. Deck out in red or just adorn splashes of red to your attire. So go ahead and step out. Step out in red hot fashion … step out wearing RED!
